ABOUT MALAMA O MANOA

Malama o Manoa was founded in January 1992 as the Manoa Historic Preservation Committee at a Manoa Neighborhood Board meeting. In September, the name Malama o Manoa was adopted. The charter of incorporation as a non-profit corporation in the State of Hawaii was granted in December 1992. In March 1993 the Internal Revenue Service approved Malama o Manoa's application as a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization, which also allows tax-deductible contributions. Mary M. Cooke was elected as the charter President. Charter Directors were Lowell Angell, Thomas Heinrich, Violet Hiranaka, Agnes Hirotsu, Gerald Honda, Linda LeGrande, Helen Nakano, Charles Pearson, and Bertha Ueoka.
